Pilates for Martial Arts with Cathy Terrazas
With the growing popularity of martial arts among both children and adults, more martial artists are finding their way into Pilates studios. In this workshop, we will identify the movements unique to those involved in martial arts and learn the benefits Pilates offers to martial artists. Joseph Pilates himself was a boxer and some of his original body conditioning exercise system is present in the Pilates we know and practice today. We will also learn how martial artists can take their training to the next level by incorporating the whole Pilates system into their practice.
Objectives:
1)Introduction to the differences in various styles of martial arts.
2) Identification of movements unique to those involved in martial arts.
3) Benefits of Pilates for martial artists.
4) Distinguishing how martial artists can take their training to another level by incorporating the whole Pilates system into their practice.

In this workshop, you will gain a clearer understanding between various styles of martial arts and identify movements unique to those involved in martial arts. You will gain a better understanding of how martial artists can benefit from Pilates and how you, as a Pilates instructor, can help them take their performance and training to the next level. We will explore martial arts focused exercises across the full Pilates system.
Equipment: All studio apparatus if available
