Beyond the Abdominals: Pilates Strategies for Pelvic Floor Health

Description

Beyond the Abdominals: Pilates Strategies for Pelvic Floor Health - Presented by Zuzana Gemmel

As Pilates instructors, we often hear about the importance of the pelvic floor—but what does it really mean to teach it effectively? This workshop explores the pelvic floor not just as a static group of muscles, but as a dynamic system that coordinates with the abdominals, hips, spine, and breath. Using anatomy-informed touch, imagery, and movement, you’ll deepen your own body awareness while gaining practical tools to integrate pelvic floor work seamlessly into your classes.

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, instructors will:

  1. Understand the pelvic floor’s functional anatomy and its role in stability, mobility, and breath.
  2. Experience and practice imagery and movement sequences that bring pelvic floor concepts to life in the studio.
  3. Apply new strategies to safely and confidently teach pelvic floor integration within Pilates sessions.

Why should I take this session?

-Deepen your understanding of one of the most essential yet often misunderstood areas of the body.

-Gain practical, teachable tools to help your clients improve posture, breathing, core control, and overall movement efficiency.

-Learn how to integrate pelvic floor awareness into Pilates exercises.

-Walk away with sequences, imagery, and cueing strategies you can immediately apply in your classes.
